STUDY TOUR PROGRAM

 

The Preston University, Islamabad is proud to present a three-day study tour program from December 3-5, 2007.

 

The objective of this program is to help participants better understand the country and the region so that they are able to comprehend the most significant issues of peace and security in the region.

 

Through discussions, the participants shall be encouraged to analyze, and draw conclusions about the developments in the South Asia region and thereby embark upon a journey down a path of discovery about the people and government of Pakistan which is expected to continue beyond the study tour itself.

 

The study tour shall provide the cultural and historical context to the current thoughts and opinions of the Pakistani academia.

 

The active-learning program shall enable participants to gain valuable insights and understanding of regional affairs both political and cultural.

 

Expected Outcomes

 

 

 

Critique, with new insights, assumptions about the country and the South Asia region

Introduction to the Languages, Cultures and Religious Values of Pakistan

Visit to Taxila museum near Islamabad and the Lok Virsa and National Museums, Islamabad

 

§Day 2: Modern History of Pakistan

 

Introduction to Politics and Government of Pakistan

Issues of Democracy and Military Rule in Pakistan

Extremism, the Issue of Islam and Politics

 

Visit to Daman-i-Koh tourist site in Islamabad

 

§Day 3:

 

The Global War on Terror and the Role of Pakistan

The Islamic Radical Phenomenon and Pakistan

The Prospects for Peace in South Asia

Exploring Strategies for Networking for Regional Peace: The Way Forward for the Region

Visit to Rawal Dam andd Shakar Parian tourist sites in Islamabad

Evening Cultural show, Preston University, Islamabad
